In general, two types of central heating systems exist, one that’s pumped and the other with a vented system; but a heating boiler, central heating radiator and pipework make up the components of most heaters.
The most common out of these is probably the pumped system, these consist of a feed and expansion tank, the hot water tank works as the centre storage, and then heats the central heating radiators via the pipes. The expansion tank does allow for any water expansion that may occur.
The second type of heater is composed of a sealed system without a central component that is part of the central heating radiator. This system is essentially self-providing and therefore does not require any water tanks. Chief benefits of vented systems are: there is no risk of leaking water tank; major problems like air locks are also not associated with such systems; moreover, they are specifically useful in cold countries because there is no risk of freezing pipes.

Gas central heating is great in a way that it warms up your office and home at a lightening fast speed and the quality of the surrounding air doesn’t even get affected. Gas fires, electric heaters and storage heaters were more commonly used in the past. With gas central heating systems, these problems are not encountered, but your central heating system will require regular maintenance. Many families only use their gas central heating during the cold months and leave them entirely unused during the summer, this is a common error. Try to switch on your central heating system during autumn so that if there is any defect, it can be fixed well before winters approach and fixed at a time when the heating engineers are less busy.
It is also important to remember that most household central heating systems allow in dust or air, thus requiring regular drainage. You can achieve this most effectively by putting a a bucket under the valve and opening it carefully to release the water, but you need to take extra care to prevent any additional water from entering the system.
