The advantages of a power-flush

The advantages of a power-flush

As your heating boiler and system ages sediment builds within the pipework. This will reduce efficiency and may need to be flushed out as this sludge coats the internal piping and reduces circulating efficiency.

Many commercial plumbers offer a power-flush service which will help to remove this sludge build up.

Any gas boiler and system can develop this contaminants problem over time, older systems seem to suffer more. A powerflush should be considered as part of the preparatory process before you install a replacement gas boiler. As the sludge and general dirt are disturbed in the new installation it will find its way into your new heating boiler and reduce its effectiveness and life span.

The DIY stores sell corrosion inhibitor which you can add your heating system to slow contaminants build up.

The following are some of the problems that could be avoided with a power-flush as it removes the deposits from your heating system : -

* colder regions on one or several radiators
* boiler deposits accumulation
* circulation problems with your water pump
* clogging pipework
* corrosion of the gas boiler and system internals
* blockages of pipework and other central heating system components
* knocks and bangs emanating from the central heating system

If you do suffer from any of these the benefits of a power-flush could be :-

* extended heating pump life as contaminants are removed from the circulating water
* curing central heating radiator cold patches so that the full surface of the central heating radiator heats your room
* enhanced heating efficiency resulting in reduced heating bills
* clearing the boiler heat exchanger to stop knocking noises and extending the gas boiler life
* reduction in in hydrogen gas collection reducing corrosion

powerflushing is an automated process using a simple machine. The system water is filtered through the machine which extracts the deposits. The powerflush literally flushes the new liquid through your heating system. The heating engineer will usually top up the system by adding a corrosion inhibitor to protect it in future years.

A power-flush be finished by a trained operator to see to it that it is completed correctly and does not create a mess.
